Audio Book Devices

What is a good way to learn how to build and modify electronic devices?
I wish to build some electronics and I do plan on taking a course but I will have to wait like 7 months for that to start. So in the meantime is there another way to learn how to do this stuff? Websites, videos, books anything I can learn to build things. As to what I want to build well I nothing specific but I would like to modify things with video and audio and give them the ability to wirelessly transmit to a receiver. Stuff like that among other things.
My level of understanding of electronics is zero. I have taken apart electronics many times out of curiosity but I have no idea what all the parts do or how they affect the devices. So I want to learn from the beginning essentially.
Try making very simple circuits first. Get parts from radioshack or your nearby electronic store for them. Search blinking led circuits and other simple things on google. Youtube has lots of videos of electronic circuits. Learn soldering also. good luck.
